‘Govt striving for rehabilitation of persons with disabilities’

Buzdar launches Sehat Insaf cards for differently-abled on World Disability Day

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has announced the launch of Sehat Insaf Cards for 30,000 thalassemia patients and 70,000 families of differently-abled persons. He made the announcement during a ceremony held in connection with World Disability Day at 90-SQA.

He also distributed Sehat Insaf cards among the differently-abled persons. “The government is striving for the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities to make them a useful organ ofVVV society,” said the chief minister.

The CM maintained that the Sehat Insaf card programme was a flagship initiative of the Pakistan Tehreek-e- Insaf (PTI) government. “The one-third population of the province is being treated in private hospitals through Sehat Insaf Cards. More than 450,000 needy people have benefited from this scheme, while more than 118,000 patients have been treated in private hospitals,” he said.


The chief minister maintained that Sehat card-holders will get treatment facilities in private hospitals and bills will be paid by the government. The differently-abled persons will be given the facility of treatment up to Rs720,000 through Sehat card and Rs1,000 will be given additionally to special persons as transport expenditures. Buzdar emphasised that the PTI government believed in the philosophy of sincerity, passion, and assistance. “It is striving for a society that provides complete socio-economic protection to all the segments,” he said.

The chief minister disclosed that the Hum-Qadam programme is being started with Rs3.5 billion to help solve the problems faced by special persons and their families.
