#BoycottDabangg3 has been trending on Twitter since Friday morning after a section of netizens expressed dismay over Salman Khan's upcoming movie, claiming it hurts Hindu sentiments, reported The Quint.

They mentioned a scene in the song Hud Hud Dabangg, which shows sadhus (holy men) clad in saffron and dancing with guitars in their hands, is aimed at "maligning" and "insulting" Hindu culture, and hence demanded the boycott of the Sonakshi Sinha-starrer.

Salman Khan's upcoming item song 'Munna Badnaam Hua' promises to be a treat for 'Dabangg' fans

The micro-blogging platform has been abuzz with angry tweets from users. One tweeted, "#BoycottDabangg3. In the film, sages have been depicted as dancing with Salman in a hideous and objectionable manner on the bank of a river. Some sages are shown playing guitar in a western style." Another wrote, "Bollywood is doing all such miserable things for  fame and money. They are not bothered about our religious sentiments. We have to make them thing about this. Strong demand #BoycottDabangg3".

Another user posted, "We are proud of our Sadhu, Maharshi who gave us many useful inventions to whom the whole world is following now! Insulating such great Sadhus is insulting our culture!! #BoycottDabangg3."

Some even demanded an apology from the film's lead actor and co-producer Salman. "#BoycottDabangg3. Salman Khan has to apologise for the degrading our Hindu saints. Will he dare to say or show something on maulvis??" one post read. Salman and the makers of the film are yet to react on the issue.

Directed by Prabhudheva, Dabangg 3 also stars Arbaaz Khan and debutant Saiee Manjrekar in key roles. The film is slated to hit theatres on December 20.
