LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday arrived in Lahore on a one-day trip to meet senior officers of the Punjab Assembly, bureaucracy and police, after faulting the top civil servants for 'poor governance' in Punjab, earlier this week.

He is accompanied by Special Assistant on Overseas Zulfi Bukhari and SAPM on Accountability Mirza Shahzad Akbar.

The premier had a one-on-one meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and discussed the current political situation in the province.

PM Imran also attended a ceremony celebrating a Service Level Agreement between Punjab Land Records Authority and private commercial banks for high-speed agricultural loans, as a special guest.

He lauded the provincial government for the steps taken for the development of the agricultural sector, by providing loans to farmers on easy terms.

He also noted that since the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government came into power, its main focus was stabilising the economy.

"First we had to stabilise the economy, now we're going to strengthen the economy."

The premier will inaugurate the fast development loan scheme today, which aims to provide maximum facilities to the farmers in the agriculture sector.

He also met the newly appointed Chief Secretary (retd) Major Azam Suleman and Inspector General Punjab (IGP) Shoaib Dastgir to discuss the security situation in the region.

IGP apprised the premier about ways to improve police behaviour and take future steps to improve the law and order in the province.

“All resources should be utilised to protect the lives and property of the people in the province,” said PM Imran.

Later today, the premier will head a high-level meeting with officials to discuss the issue of smog in Punjab.
