Widow Woes: Man kills mother for wanting to remarry
A 17-year-old youth slaughtered his mother over her second marriage in Faisalabad
FAISALABAD:
A 17-year-old youth slaughtered his mother over her second marriage in Faisalabad on Thursday afternoon.
According to police officials, Mohallah Islampura Chak No215-RB resident Shaukat Asghar took a knife to his mother Bilqees Bibi, while she was asleep. Neighbours told police officials that Shaukat had killed his mother because he opposed her second marriage. “Bilqees has been a widow for over 17 years and Shaukat was her only child. She tried to plead with him to let her remarry but he always refused,” Marufa Bibi, a neighbour told police.
Saddar police officials said that they discovered Bilqees Bibi’s body hidden under her bed.
“He had mutilated her badly and we have sent the body for an autopsy,” SHO Rameez Khan said. Police officials said that the body bore at least 13 separate stab wounds with a sharp weapon.
“The autopsy results will confirm everything but she was most definitely tortured before he slit her throat,” Khan said.
Police officials said that Shaukat had fled the district and that a search party was already looking for him. Police have registered a case and said that the house had been sealed off.
