LAHORE: Violence against women is an ugly reality which still prevails all over the globe, said Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar.

“Rape is the most heinous form of violence. We must ensure that no one in this land should feel that they can get away with this crime,” he added. He expressed these views at the launch of a campaign titled ‘16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence’ on Tuesday. The event was jointly arranged by the Women Development Department, Punjab, Provincial Directorate of Ministry of Human Rights, Special Monitoring Unit of the Chief Minister Office and UN Women Pakistan.

The governor maintained that violence can be eliminated by making young citizens acknowledge and respect each other’s rights.
