What's better than former US first lady Michelle Obama and star comedian Ellen DeGeneres in the same room? Obama and DeGeneres in the same room while also singing a duet — about her book.

On Thursday, Obama shared a video on Instagram of herself and DeGeneres at a piano together, writing, "Last night, I dropped by my friend Ellen’s house for a little duet…", reported InStyle.

In the video, DeGeneres can be seen at a piano, playing and singing, "Michelle Obama has a new book," before Obama joins her at the chair to croon, "It’s actually a journal."

The heartwarming, musical back-and-forth melted hearts on the new author's social media caught the hearts of her followers with many commenting how 'their two favourite people' made their day.

The sweet video is a little promotion for Obama's new book, Becoming: A Guided Journal for Discovering Your Voice, based on her bestselling memoir, Becoming.

The new book/journal includes inspiring questions and quotes to help readers live their best Michelle Obama life, and as she wrote in its introduction, "I hope you’ll use this journal to write down your experiences, thoughts, and feelings, in all their imperfections, and without judgment... We don’t have to remember everything. But everything we remember has value."

People are not happy about Ellen DeGeneres' friendship with George Bush

After seeing the video, followers are asking for a full album duet and for every one of Obama's projects to be promoted by song with DeGeneres.

Aside from this, the comedian was under heavy fire in October for her public friendship with former US president George W Bush. "Just because I don’t agree with someone on everything doesn’t mean that I’m not going to be friends with them,” she told the audience, including over 28 million viewers on Instagram and Twitter combined.

Many social media users slammed the comedian’s willingness to overlook Bush’s history. This includes his decision to march the country into war in Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, which resulted in the deaths of 250,000 civilians.
