KARACHI: The medical board of the National Institute of Child Health (NICH) has contacted plastic surgeons from different hospitals of Karachi for the reconstructive surgery of Hasnain Bhugio’s face, the minor boy who was mauled by six dogs.

The six-year-old, Hasnain, was brought to Karachi NICH on November 15 from Larkana and he is since being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

“His condition is improving with each passing day and three minor surgeries have been done so far,” informed paediatric surgeon Dr Muhammad Anwer. “He has been removed from the ventilator and being fed through the feeding tube.”

According to Dr Anwar, Hasnain has now been able to identify his parents and communicate through hand gestures. The medical board, which was formed by the Sindh Chief Minister and is led by Dr Jamshed Akhter, will decide when and how the reconstructive surgery of his face has to be done.
