People thrash child molester, hand suspect over to police
In separate case, IHC summons IG over lax investigations in a child rape case
ISLAMABAD:
A child molester was thoroughly thrashed by the neighbourhood people then handed over to Nelor police for legal formalities in the suburban area of Dhok Gujjar on Tuesday.
The Nelor police on Tuesday registered two separate cases against a suspect charged of raping two minor boys for seven months at his house in Dhok Gujjar.
The heinous practice was disclosed after one of the victims shared the whole story with his father who then approached the father of the other victim.
The suspect, Majid Latif , was beaten by neighbours and family of the victims and later handed over to the police which registered two separate cases against him.
Muhammad Zafran and Muhammad Arshad informed the police that Majid Lateef kept molesting and raping their seven-year-old and eight-year-old sons respectively.
They told the police that the suspect used to threaten the children with a dagger and a pistol in his hands and saying he would slaughter them if they inform anybody about the wicked activity being carried out for around seven months.
However, the eight-year-old minor gathered courage and informed his father, Arshad, the entire story after which he approached Zafran, father of the seven-year-old victim, and made him aware of what was being done with their children.
When the neighbours came to know about it, Latif was beaten by them and was later handed over to Nelor police for further action.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC)'s Chief Justice Athar Minallah Tuesday summoned Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad in person on Wednesday to reply in a case pertaining to molestation of a boy at a seminary in the Bhara Kahu area.
The chief justice expressed displeasure over the police for conducting poor investigation and directed the IGP to appear in person to reply on behalf of his department. The bench remarked that why not a disciplinary was initiated against the case investigation officer. What investigation had been done so far, the IHC Chief Justice asked.
The police investigation officer said that rape of the victim proved in the medical analysis. The prosecutor read the first information report (FIR) before the court which stated that the incident had taken place on August 28, at a madrasa in Bhara Khau.
The parents of the victim informed the madrasa head immediately after they came to know. However, the family of the 17-year old suspect arranged a pre-arrest bail for him.
Case of a missing lawyer
Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday summoned deputy inspector general of police (DIGP) Islamabad and directed him to appear in person to reply in a case regarding a missing lawyer.
Lawyer Mohammad Yafis Naveed Hashmi also a leader of Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen (MWM) and former vice president of Multan Bar Association, went missing from Islamabad on August 8. High Court Bar Association of Multan filed the petition seeking recovery of its former office-bearer.
IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah hearing the petition remarked that it was the responsibility of state to protect the lives and property of citizens. The chief justice asked the president of Multan Bar Association to assist the bench regarding the more options as the state institutions were already engage in search of the missing lawyer. The counsel for the petitioner said the law enforcement agencies should update them regarding any progress into the matter.
Deputy Attorney General Tayyab Shah told the court that an FIR had been registered and a report of Defence Ministry had also been filed. He asked more time from the court to progress in the matter. The court adjourned hearing of the case till December 9, and summoned DIGP Islamabad in person on next hearing.
