Four to 8 pm is when ‘most murders occur’

LAHORE: Majority of murder incidents occur between 4 pm to 8 pm in the city.

The Express Tribune learnt this after an analysis of data of the last three years; 2017, 2018 and 2019, from January 1st to November 09.

According to the data, a total of 853 cases were registered from January 1 to November 9 over three years. Out of the cases, 216 were reported to have occurred from 4 pm to 8  pm, followed by 175 during 8 pm to 11.59 pm.

From 12 pm to 4 pm, at least 152 cases occurred and 139 took place from 8 am to 11.59 am. At the same time, 75 occurred from 4 am to 8 am and 96 were registered from 12am to 4 am.

From January 1 to November 9 in 2017, a total of 269 murder cases were registered. The largest number of cases, 69, took place between 4pm and 8pm, followed by 50 from 8 pm to 11.59 pm.

At least 47 cases were registered from 8 am to 11.59 am, 36 from 12 pm to 4 pm and 35 from 4 am to 8 am and 32 from 12 am to midnight.

From January 1to November 9, 2018, as many as 310 cases were registered. The most number of cases registered, 68, were between 8 pm and 12 am, followed by 67 from 4 pm to 8 pm.

Between 8 am and 11.59 am, as many as 53 cases were registered, whereas 40 took place between 12 am and 4 am. A total of 22 were registered between 4 am and 8 am.

At least 274 cases were registered from January 1 to November 9 in 2019. The largest number was registered during the time slot of 4 pm to 8 pm, followed by 57 from 8 pm to 11.59 pm.

During the timeslot of 12 pm-4 pm as many as 56 cases occurred, 39 from 8 am to 11.59 am, 24 from 12 am to 4 am and 18 from 4 am to 8 am.

In all these years, the largest number of murder cases, in which the suspects were unidentified, occurred between 4 pm and 8 pm.

A total of 142 blind murder cases were registered from January 1 to November 9 in 2017, 2018 and 2019.  The largest number, 33, was registered between 4 pm and 8 pm, followed by 28 during 12-4 pm.

A total of 24 blind murder cases were registered during 8 am-11.59 am, 22 from 4-8 am, 20 from 8-11.59 pm and 15 during 12 am-4 am.

From January 1 to November 09, 2017, at least such 38 cases were registered. The largest number, 10, was reported during 12-4 pm, seven from 4-8 pm, six during 12 am-4 am and five each during 4-8 am, 8 am-11.59 am and 8 pm to 11.59 pm.

SC accepts transfer plea in barrister’s murder case

From January 1 to November 9, 2018, as many as 61 blind murder cases were registered. The highest number, 15, was reported during 4 pm and 8 pm, followed by 12 during 4 am-8 am.

11 cases were reported during 12 pm 04 pm, 11 during 8 pm-11.59 pm, eight during 8 am-11.59 am and four during 12 am-4 am.

As many as 43 blind murder cases were registered during January 1 to November 9, 2019. The largest number, 11, were registered during 4pm-8 pm and 8 am-11.59 am each.

Seven cases were reported during 4 pm-8 pm. Five cases, each, were reported during 12 am-4 am 4 am-8 am. Only four cases were reported 8 pm -11.59 pm.
