According to PEPCO, the electricity production stood at 12881 megawatts , while demand stood around 18706 megawatts. The shortfall has been attributed to lack of oil and gas supply to generators.
Urban areas of southern Punjab, including Multan, were facing power outages of 10 hours - while 16 hours of loadshedding was underway in rural areas.
In Balochistan, urban areas are facing power outages of up to eight hours, while the duration was 20 hours in rural areas.
In Karachi, which was receiving 740 megawatts of electricity from the national grid, still had to brave power cuts for up to six hours. People in other cities of Sindh have had to put up with 12 hours of loadshedding.
Businesses have been adversely affected by the power outages, resulting in loss of production capacity.

Any estimates and plan to cater not only todays shortfall but also the rising demands that we will face in the future. Can anyone predict by when we will have enough electricity production to end the power shortage to put an end to the era of the load-shedding ??
