Governor calls Modi ‘enemy of peace’

Says Pakistan has just opened a ‘corridor for peace’

LAHORE: Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said Narendra Modi was playing politics of hate and turning into the enemy of peace, but Pakistan has opened a “peace corridor” through Kartarpur.

He said that Pakistan stands with minorities, adding that Indian Supreme Court’s decision on Babari Masjid on the occasion of the Kartarpur Corridor inauguration represented an RSS mindset.

The governor said that his regime would not place any hurdle in the path of Nawaz Sharif’s medical treatment. He added the government would implement the decisions of the courts. He hoped Maulana Fazalur Rehman would not play the politics of confrontation and said dialogue between the government and the JUI-F chief would be successful.

He expressed these views while talking to the media after visiting Mazar-e-Iqbal with PTI Central Punjab president Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhry on the birth anniversary of Allama Iqbal. He said they also laid a floral wreath on the grave.

Chaudhry Sarwar said the government was striving to develop the country and make it prosper as per vision of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal. “The PTI government is working day and night to steer the country out of the crises.” He said authorities were tacking unemployment, inflation and the economy. He hoped it would soon succeed in overcoming such challenges.

To a question, he said that federal and provincial governments never placed a hurdle in Nawaz Sharif’s medical treatment nor did it would create any problems. “We respect the judiciary and would completely implement the decisions of courts”.

The governor said authorities were not against peaceful protests as they were the constitutional and political right of all citizens.

About Maulana Fazalur Rehman’s sit-in, the Governor said the former was a seasoned politicians and the government’s dialogue team was holding negotiations with him. He was certain talks would be successful and conclude peacefully.
