‘About 35% women workers are harassed, tortured at brick kiln'
Large number of women suffer bounded labour conditions in 10 sectors including brick kiln, agriculture and fishing

Chairperson Human Rights Commission Pakistan (HRCP) Nasreen Azhar on Sunday stressed on the need to implement protection laws against harassment of women at workplace especially at the brick kiln industry.
‘Around 35 per cent women workers at brick kilns are often tortured, harassed by their bosses’, she said.
Azhar underscored about the woeful circumstances of around 4.5 million workers at the brick kiln industry who are facing multiple miseries since their problems are not timely catered by the concerned authorities.
She specifically highlighted the persecution of women working at brick kiln who are required to produce 1,000 bricks a day for which they receive a minimal amount of Rs960.

While pertaining to a question, Azhar mentioned about the silence of victims that needs to be focused although the government seems committed to eradicate all issues related to atrocious working conditions.
She further underlined about that previous findings revealing about hundreds of brick kiln labours who face violations of basic rights across the district.
The revelations also show negligence on the part of local government who had failed to bring about any improvement in the situation of brick kilns workers.
Azhar urged the concerned authorities to take measures in order to control torture and harassment related incidents against the labourers especially women at brick kilns.
