LAHORE: Lahore High Court Acting Chief Justice, Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh, has directed Sheikhupura Regional Police Officer (RPO), Sohail Habib Tajak, to provide full security to the witnesses of Kot Radha Kishan incident in which a Christian couple was burnt alive.

The acting chief justice expressed his dismay for not providing security to the witnesses despite the direction of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. It said: “All the important eye-witnesses shall be given full protection and security from home to court till the culmination of the trial.”

Two witnesses named Shahbaz Masih and Iqbal Masih submitted that the Supreme Court of Pakistan had clearly passed the aforementioned directions on September 3, 2015 and further directed to provide security to the applicants and others important witnesses.

DPO Kasur provided two security guards and a police vehicle on the dates of the trial. Thereafter, some unknown persons attempted to kill the applicant as a result of which an FIR was registered in Kot Radha Kishan police.

He contended that DPO Kasur, despite the reservations of applicants, withdrew the security from his house and a police vehicle was not provided on the day of the trial.
