Chinese delegation visit: Cultural exchange between Pakistan and China emphasised
The delegates took keen interest in the displays on embroidery, silk thread, musical heritage, Sufis & shrines.
Increased cultural exchange between Pakistan and China was emphasised during the visit of a nine-member Chinese Military Museum delegation to Lok Virsa in Islamabad on Wednesday. The delegation was headed by Col. SHE Zhihong, said a press release.
On arrival, the delegates were warmly received by senior officials of Lok Virsa. Executive Director Khalid Javaid briefed them on salient features of the Pakistan’s indigenous folk culture, oral traditions, arts and crafts with special emphasis on the mandate of Lok Virsa as a specialized cultural body.
He also informed them about the on-going Pak-Norway joint institutional cooperation and suggested a similar interactive programme with the Chinese ethnological, folk art and craft museums. He said, “It will greatly enhance the existing cultural relations and people-to-people contact between the time-tested friendly countries of Pakistan & China.”
The delegates took keen interest in the displays on embroidery, silk thread, musical heritage, Sufis & shrines and ethnic tribes. They also praised the wood carved doors collected from different regions of rural Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
A short live musical performance by a group of folk artists and musicians was also a part of the visit programme. The artists presented enthralled the delegates with popular folk numbers and played national songs.
