LAHORE:
The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Executive Board will meet on Wednesday to finalise the appointment of Pakistan’s national coach as well as the team management, according to a PHF official.
The PHF last week had discussions with the Dutch Michel van den Heuvel in Lahore in a bid to convince him to join the national team. While the final discussions are ongoing, various other foreign coaches in the past have rejected the offer due to the prevailing law-and-order situation in the country.
“He [van den Heuvel] stayed in Lahore for three days before going back on Sunday,” the PHF official told The Express Tribune. “We got a positive response on the offer from his side and we’ll address and confirm the issue in the meeting taking place on Wednesday.”
According to the official, the board has already given its approval on the matter or bringing in a foreign coach, but a final decision regarding the appointment of any coach, foreign or local, will be taken after the detailed meeting of the board.”
