IG Sindh to restore CID after 10 years

It was decided in the meeting that SP's will be appointed in Karachi's five districts.

KARACHI:
After the lapse of 10 years, the defunct Crime Investigation Department of police will be restored by abolishing the Special Investigation Unit.

The decision to restore CID was taken in meeting chaired by the IG Sindh Wajid Durrani at the Central Police Office in Karachi.

In this connection, IG Sindh sent a summary to the Chief Minister Sindh for approval.


It was decided in the meeting that SP's will be appointed in Karachi's five districts while the department will be headed by DIG Iftikhar Tarrar. Anti-Violent Crime Cell and Anti-Car lifting cell will operate under CID.

With the repeal of Police Order 2002, the CCPO position will be replaced with Additional IG. One DIG will head two districts.

Sources confirmed that city's southern zone will be further divided into another district.

It was decided in the meeting that the sitting DIGs will be stationed in all districts with each having jurisdiction over two districts.
