K-PFC wheat procurement target set at 0.15m tonnes

To bring stability in flour prices and avoid a shortfall, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Food Committee (K-PFC) on Friday gave the go-ahead to the food department for procuring 0.15 million tonnes of wheat from the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO).

The decision was made during a meeting of the K-PFC held under the chairmanship of K-P Food Minister Qalandar Khan Lodhi. The meeting disused in details rates for transporting wheat from Punjab to the provincial reserve centres in K-P and procurement of Wheat from PASSCO.


After a detailed discussion on the agenda items, PFC approved the procurement of 0.15 million tonnes of wheat and rates for its transportation from Punjab to provincial reserves centres in K-P.

Lodhi said that provision of food items to the public at low cost was the government’s responsibility and they were committed to ensuring it.
