Anti-dengue drive in full swing in Sargodha

All departments directed to take measures to avert spread of dengue

The district administration and all departments concerned have been working hard to eliminate dengue larvae. Campaigns are also being arranged to raise awareness among the masses.

The focal person of the anti-dengue drive, Dr Tariq Hassan, said a total of 276 expected cases of dengue virus were reported during the last week. Out of the total reported cases, 17 patients were declared with positive dengue symptoms.

He said 145 dengue cases have been reported so far in 2019, while only three patients were under treatment in the dengue ward of the district headquarters (DHQ) teaching hospital.

A total of 334 indoor teams were working in the district and also inspected 59,739 homes. Dengue larva was reported from five places and 167 outdoor teams inspected 14,277 various sites and larva was found at 34 points.


The local administration has also served notices to 15 people for adopting poor arrangements at their premises, he added.

A total 308 seminars, 1,240 awareness sessions and 2,014 rallies were also organised to create awareness among the masses.

Around 31 complaints were received on the helpline which were resolved accordingly. The necessary medicines were also available at all district and tehsil hospitals, while independent dengue wards have also been set up to provide the best treatment among patients.

The deputy commissioner has also issued strict directions to eliminate dengue presence in the area. All departments concerned have joined hands in this regard and a daily report was being sent to the DC office.
