PM Imran calls for promoting Sufi teachings

Imran Khan says modeling Pakistan on State of Madina his ultimate mission

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said in this hi-tech era, the promotion of national identity and teachings of great Sufi saints are inevitable to protect the youth from the cultural onslaught and acquaint them with Islam and indigenous values.

“The life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is a role model for all the humans which could guarantee their success in all the spheres of life,” said the PM while meeting with a delegation of renowned religious scholars, according to a PM Office statement.

He said every aspect of the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) had been well recorded in history which could help resolve the issues confronting the followers in their lives.

He told the delegation that the objective behind establishing Seerat Chair at universities is to promote comprehensive research and acquaint students with the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) life and Islam.

He said practicing the model of State of Madina was essential for the Muslims to gain prominence among the comity of nations. The prime minister said modeling Pakistan on the State of Madina is his ultimate mission which he revealed after assuming power.

The meeting discussed the prime minister’s speech at the UN General Assembly in which he had effectively highlighted the issues of Kashmir, the real concept of Islam, blasphemy committed in the west and Islamophobia.


They also deliberated over the government’s initiatives including the establishment of Seerat Chair at universities, Al-Qadir University, Langar Khana under Ehsaas Programme, and a plan to launch a television channel to promote the real image of Islam in collaboration with Turkey and Malaysia and other issues pertaining to national development and stability.

The scholars said through his speech at the UN, the prime minister had represented the sentiments not only of his nation but also the whole Muslim Umma. They said the prime minister’s categorical remark that there is only one Islam has changed the perception of many.

The scholars said after his UN speech, the prime minister has not only emerged as the leader of the Muslims but also brought pride to his countrymen.

The delegation comprising the religious scholars from all schools of thought also assured the prime minister of their full support in his endeavor to highlight the Kashmir issue, protection of Namoos-e-Risalat (PBUH) and for his vision for the development of the country.

They also put forward their suggestions to acquaint the young generation with the teachings of great Sufi saints. The scholars appreciated the government’s measures to improve the administration of evacuee properties, decision to utilise them for public welfare and spend their revenue on the facilitation of the pilgrims.
