ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted bail to Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader and Rahbar Committee’s convener Akram Khan Durrani against surety bonds worth Rs500,000 each in three National Accountability Bureau (NAB) inquiries.

Two-member bench of IHC comprising Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the case.

The court also approved bail in corruption inquiries of two residential projects of Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation and income beyond means case.

The court also granted bail to JUI-F leader’s son Zahid Durrani, his son-in law Irfanullah Durrani and personal secretary M Tahir until November 4.

Durrani is facing inquiries for alleged corruption in two housing projects of the Federal Government Housing Foundation, appointment of officers in the Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation, allotment of `out of turn` plots for mosques and induction in the Pakistan Public Works Department (PWD).

The JUI-F leader claimed that he was being victimised for his role in the Azadi march to be launched by his party on October 27 against the government.

Durrani clarified in his petition that he was not concerned with the recruitment process carried out by the ministry of housing and works or its attached departments since he was not an appointing authority.

The petition claimed that there were vacant positions in the PWD for about a decade and he ensured the inductions without further delay.
