ISLAMABAD:
The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the government to complete restoration of the Workers Welfare Fund (WWF).

The court ordered the officials of workers' welfare department to take measures for issuing funds to provincial boards.

A two-member bench of Supreme Court (SC) comprising Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Aijazul Hasan presided over the case.

On the outset of the hearing, Justice Hasan asked why the funds under death and marriage grant were not issued to provinces considering it was an important matter. At this, Deputy Attorney General (DAG) said that the formation of WWF was currently incomplete due to a shortage of two members to which Justice Hasan remarked: “who was responsible for it except the government?” Justice Bandial suggested the workers remain patient, remarking that the court would help them.
