Meanwhile, the authority has confiscated around 7,000 kilogrammes of loose spices, five grinding units and a large quantity of raw material during different raids so far. On Saturday, PFA teams sealed Haji Munawar, Haji Rehman Atta Masala Chaki and Karmanwala Namak for producing loose spices.
PFA Director General Muhammad Usman stated that red chilli powder was being produced by adding substandard and hazardous ingredients such as non-food grade colouring and chemicals.
Raiding teams also took action against the units for failing to properly print and package the spices, poor cleanliness and hygiene and for a proper storage system. The director general stated that the use of unsafe ingredients in loose spices can lead to ulcers in the stomach and intestines.
