ISLAMABAD:
As the country observed ‘White Cane Safety Day’ (day for the visibility challenged), the federal human rights minister announced that the top civic authority of the federal capital has been directed to make the city more accessible to differently-abled people.

She said this while addressing a ‘White Cane Safety Day’ event at the auditorium of the National Institute of Special Education on Tuesday. The event had been organised by the Directorate General of Special Education and the Ministry of Human Rights.

Federal Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari pledged that the government will do everything to protect the rights of differently-abled people. Apart from directing the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to make the city more accessible, she said that the State Bank of Pakistan has also worked to make many ATMs across the country accessible to the visually impaired.
