His funeral prayers will be offered at Garden Police Headquarters, Karachi
KARACHI:
Former Karachi police chief Shahid Hayat, who was currently serving as joint director general of Intelligence Bureau, passed away in the metropolitan city on Tuesday following a prolonged illness.
According to sources, he was undergoing cancer treatment at a private hospital in Karachi where he breathed his last.
Sindh IG Dr Kaleem Imam expressed grief over Hayat’s death, and paid tribute to his services for the police department.
Karachi police chief, Ghulam Nabi Memon also condoled his death. He announced his funeral prayers will be offered at the Garden Police Headquarters in Karachi on Wednesday, whereas he will be buried in his home town, Dera Ismail Khan.
Hayat served at many key posts during his tenure in police.
He played a decisive role during the Karachi operation during his posting in the provincial capital in 2014.
