Margalla Hills Park awaits boundary demarcation

Any construction found in the premises of MHNP will be removed

ISLAMABAD: Margalla Hills National Park (MHNP) awaits boundary demarcation, which is expected to be carried out despite directions of the apex court. Talking to the media, Ministry of Climate Change (MoCC) official alleged that the civic bodies had put the issue on the back burner despite the Supreme Court’s directions.

To protect the park in its true condition it was necessary to have an updated survey on modern lines to evaluate the status of the land being encroached or disturbed by anthropogenic activities, he added.

When contacted, Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) Director Environment Rana Tahir told the media that the Survey of Pakistan was responsible for conducting a detailed assessment for boundary demarcation.

However, most of the things under the survey were done and near completion, he added. The officials were waiting for the report and result from the Survey of Pakistan to ascertain the boundary demarcation of the national park, he added.

The IMC director said it was for sure that any edifice of construction found in the premises of MHNP would be removed.
