Athletics: Powell wins 100m at Birmingham
I just wanted to make sure of victory. We all want to get the best start.
LONDON:
Former world record-holder Asafa Powell confirmed his impressive form this season when he won the 100m at the Birmingham Diamond League meeting, his time of 9.91 seconds achieved despite the chilly conditions. “It was so cold that I didn’t push too much at the start, but I am happy with that,” said the 28-year-old. “I just wanted to make sure of victory. We all want to get the best start but when there are false starts it puts you in a different zone.”
