MCL to maintain all city streetlights

The government is handing over the responsibility to agency to look after all streetlights of the provincial capital

LAHORE: To resolve frequent public complaints about faulty streetlights, the government is considering handing over the responsibility to one agency to look after all streetlights of the provincial capital.

Lahore Division Commissioner Asif Bilal on Monday said in order to avoid ownership related issues, the government at high-level is considering to hand over the operation and maintenance of street lights of the city to one agency.

He directed officials concerned to light all streetlights of all major roads of Lahore within ten days.

City to get makeover at major entry points

He said a joint team of all agencies of Lahore administration would start visits to see the maintenance of streetlights. He said according to the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), 18 roads with 100% lit streetlights would be handed over to the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) soon.
