QCCI slams FBR officials over unruly attitude
Says authorities were trying to stop legal trade in the province, encouraging smuggling
QUETTA:
The Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) on Saturday expressed serious reservations over the attitude of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials and warned of a strike by Balochistan traders if their issues were not resolved.
Addressing a press conference at Quetta Press Club, QCCI Senior Vice President Badaruddin Kakar claimed that the officials of revenue authority were trying to stop legal trade in the province and were encouraging smuggling.
NAB chief rebuffs business community's concerns
“On the orders of Appraisement Collectorate FBR Islamabad, our goods are being stopped every second day. It seems that they do not want any trade activity for Balochistan,” Kakar alleged.
“Despite customs clearance, trucks carrying legal imports and exports are stopped at the border. Instead of legal trade, they are deliberately promoting smuggling. This is bringing legal trade activities to a standstill,” he said, adding that QCCI helped promote legal trade.
“If this situation continues, we will go on a strike,” he added.
