29th anniversary of unification of Germany celebrated

Unifications serves as an example through which nations can learn how to move forward together

The 29th anniversary of the unification of Germany was celebrated at the German Consulate in Karachi on Friday. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Governor Imran Ismail, ambassadors of different countries, social activists, politicians and people from the business community attended the ceremony.

National anthems of Pakistan and Germany were played as the ceremony commenced. Speaking on the occasion, Consul General Eugen Wollfarth referred to the unification of East and West Germany and said, “A courageous move was taken 30 years ago.”

He said that the young generation, back then, witnessed separation, marked by the wall diving the East and West Germany, which had far-reaching consequences.

The consul general thanked the ambassadors for attending the ceremony and appreciated the “friendly attitude of the people of Sindh and Balochistan and the liveliness of Karachi.”

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Ismail said that the unification of Germany is an example through which nations can learn how to move forward together.

He said that Germany holds immense importance for Pakistan and assuring German investors that they will be provided with all necessary facilities.
