RAWALPINDI:
The garrison city was once again lashed by heavy rains on Thursday afternoon.
The rain spell which started around 1pm submerged various roads and thoroughfares including Murree Road, Mall Road, Airport Road, Rawal Road, Gawalmandi, Transt Camp Chowk, Kalma Chowk and other inner city areas.
As a result, a massive traffic snarl-up was seen in the city due to the poor drainage system. In many areas, the rainwater mixed with the drainage water and travelled inside houses, becoming a source of distress for the residents. The administration remained absent on the occasion and made no arrangements to drain the water from the streets and roads.
