Engineers threaten strikes, protests
Locals associations call an emergency meeting to discuss the government’s retaliatory actions against engineers
QUETTA:
Balochistan Engineers Association, Creative Engineers Association and Young Engineers Association called an emergency meeting to discuss government’s retaliatory actions against engineers in Balochistan.
The meeting strongly condemned government’s act of issuing show-cause notices to engineers who participated in protests against the provincial government.
“Provincial Minister Engineer Zamrak Khan Achakzai and Balochistan Assembly’s Deputy Speaker Sardar Babar Musakhail had negotiated with protesting engineers and pledged to address our demands on priority,” the members of the alliance said, adding that after government’s assurances the strikes were called off unconditionally. They complained that despite formation of a committee by CM Jam Kamal to review demands, the authorities have commenced retaliatory actions.
“Action was taken against us in the Mining Department and later our engineers were given notices in Communications and Works (C&W) department.” EGA said.
