Shahwani vows to end illiteracy in province

Says CM’s Punjab visit promoted inter-provincial harmony

QUETTA: Balochistan government spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani has said that Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal on his two-day Punjab visit discussed matters of mutual interest among the provinces and stressed upon inter-provincial harmony.

The chief minister met his Punjab counterpart Usman Buzdar and was assured of support in Balochistan’s development.

“During a meeting with Usman Buzdar, CM Jam Kamal underscored cooperation between Punjab and Balochistan and stressed the need to promote harmony among the provinces,” Shahwani said.

Chief Minister Usman Buzdar also vowed to provide educational opportunities to students, he added.

“CM Jam Kamal apprised the Punjab CM of the issues faced by Baloch students at the Punjab University,” said Shahwani. “CM Buzdar has promised measures to solve their issues.”

Reiterating the government’s commitment to promote education in Balochistan, Shahwani mentioned that all resources are being utilised to steer the province out of the darkness of illiteracy.

“Provincial government has increased educational budget up to 60 billion rupees which would bring an educational revolution in Balochistan,” Shahwani affirmed. “The government believes that real development and change is only possible through education.”

Commitment to development

Shahwani also said that the provincial government is committed to the development and prosperity of the people. A genuine representation in the federal Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) is a result of continuous efforts of CM Kamal, he added.

In a separate statement issued on Thursday, Shahwani said that time has arrived for the province to contribute to economic development.

“Gwadar Port after its completion will give fillip to economic activities in the province and also expand trading routes to the neighbouring countries,” Shahwani asserted. He added that the provincial government is taking every possible measure to ensure peace and stability for the overall provincial progress. Priorities are given to the health and education sectors to resolve the issues immediately, he affirmed.

Reiterating the government’s will to solve public issues on priority, Shahwani said development process in the province is in full swing and the projects will have a positive impact on the economy of Balochistan. He promised that the lifestyle and living standard of people will also be improved.

“Balochistan is the future of the country and the province has a huge geographical importance all over the world. Its unique strategic location makes it even more valuable,” he said.
