Media organisations reject idea of tribunals
Form standing committee to take all possible steps in this regard
ISLAMABAD:
All media organisations, including APNS, CPNE, PBA and PFUJ, have unanimously rejected the decision of the federal cabinet to establish ‘special media tribunals’.
During a press conference held here on Thursday, the heads of all media organisations expressed concern over the government’s attempt to strip the liberty of media by establishing media tribunals, which according to them “is continuity of censorship of media by powerful government elements”.
The joint meeting demanded of the government to take back its anti-media decision.
The heads of media organisations resolved to take all possible steps to stop the media tribunals from being established.
A standing committee comprising heads of all media organisations has been formed, which will decide further initiatives in this regard.
