HYDERABAD: Another case of polio surfaced in Sindh with a 31-month-old child, belonging to Jamshoro district, diagnosed positive with the virus. With this addition, a total of seven cases have surfaced in Sindh in the ongoing year, according to Health Director-General Dr Masood Ahmed Solangi.
Polio infected child, Muhammad Jamshed, son of Muhammad Usman Pathan, a resident of Khursheed Colony in Kotri SITE area, complained of severe chest pain and fever on August 22. The next day he was struck by a water tanker on the road and was shifted to the hospital.
Two polio cases confirmed in Karachi, South Waziristan
However, Jamshoro District Health Officer Dr Mushtaq Solangi told the media that during treatment at a local hospital the child's legs stopped working. On August 30 the district health authorities were informed about the case and they started the investigation.
So far three polio cases have been reported from Karachi, two from Hyderabad and one each from Larkana and Jamshoro districts. Rubab Fatima, a 10-year-old resident of Latifabad init 11, and Memona Muhibullah, the one-year-old resident of Hala Naka, Hyderabad, were tested positive with polio in August.
