Project proposals forwarded
WASA is also providing clean water to citizens through 102 tube wells
MULTAN:
The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has forwarded the proposals of two water supply schemes to the provincial government for approval. Sources stated that Rs1.5 billion would be spent on two water supply schemes including the replacement of old and out dated supply lines as well ensuring provision to water to neglected areas in the city. Officials stated that the old water supply lines would be replaced with high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes which can last around 50 years. HDPE pipes were also used on the metro routes and in the old Shujabad road sewerage system. WASA is providing water to 55% of the city. After executing these schemes, water can be provided to an additional 20%, sources said. WASA is also providing clean water to citizens through 102 tube wells, 63 water filtration plants and pipelines stretching 1,440 kilometres. Initial work on the schemes would be carried out soon, sources said.
