Oxygen Supply: Two babies die at PMCH
while six others are in critical condition because of a cut in oxygen supply at People’s Medical College Hospital
NAWABSHAH:
Two new-born babies died, while six others are in critical condition because of a cut in oxygen supply at People’s Medical College Hospital (PMCH). The supply was allegedly stopped by paramedics of the hospital, as a show of protest against police maltreatment of their colleague, Rashid Qureshi, a ward boy who had been beaten up by the police. The paramedics staged a sit-in in front of the administration block. The fathers of the deceased infants, Pir Ali Buksh and Muhammed Urs, confirmed that their children died as a result of the incident. Dr. Tufail Baloch, the medical superintendent, said that the authorities have suspended the policeman who allegedly abused Qureshi and further investigations are underway.
