Non-Compliance: Bailable arrest warrants for MPA

The court issued summons to the MPA accused of making assets by misusing his authority as an MPA.

LAHORE:

An accountability court on Saturday issued bailable arrest warrants for MPA Tariq Mehmood for not appearing before the court in a money scam case.

The court had earlier issued summons to the MPA accused of making assets by misusing his authority as an MPA in a reference filed with the National Accountability Bureau. Tariq was earlier acquitted of the charges under National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO). However, hearing of the reference had resumed after the Supreme Court of Pakistan struck down the NRO. On Saturday, the court directed the accused to submit surety bonds worth Rs2 million and adjourned the hearing till July 23.
