Dual-track Ataturk Avenue to open soon
Relevant departments have been told to complete carpeting and black-topping of the avenue
ISLAMABAD:
A dual-track Ataturk Avenue, from Khyaban-e-Suhrawardy to NADRA Chowk is expected to open for traffic in the next few days, city officials said on Thursday.
In this regard, the relevant departments have been told to complete carpeting and black-topping of the avenue.
Meanwhile, Capital Development Authority (CDA) officials said that they have finished work on drains and other allied work on the avenue while compaction is in its final stages. Similarly, base and sub-base work on a section of the avenue from the Fazal-e-Haq Road to the National Database Regulatory Authority (NADRA) Chowk is also in progress. This is expected to be completed soon.
The Ataturk Avenue dualization project started over three years ago to address traffic congestion problems in the federal capital. However, progress on the project remained slow.
