Foundation laid for CIMS 

The project worth Rs472 million will be completed within a year

RAWALPINDI: The Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB) has laid the foundation for Cantonment Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) on adjoining land of Al-Shifa Eye Trust on Thursday. Initially, the college name was proposed to be after ex-Army Chief General Raheel Sharif. The ceremony was attended by a number of high officials of cantonment board while the stone was laid by Military Land and Cantonments (ML&C) Director General Major General Syed Hasnat Amir Gilani. The project worth Rs472 million will be completed within a year. The first phase of the project will include A and B Blocks of colleges, laboratory, a museum, a cafeteria, 15-member faculty and eight-member administration.  Similarly, a dental college, girls, boys and house officers’ hostels, staff residences will be completed under the extension project. It is notable that project’s site was selected in August 2018 while its foundation has been laid after over a year. The project would be linked with Cantonment General Hospital as a teaching hospital which is currently under up-gradation.
