CUI inks accord with ICTP

This agreement will facilitate research in pure mathematics as well as industrial and applied mathematics

COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) has signed an agreement with the Italian International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) to launch the first International Masters of Science (MSc) in mathematics at CUI’s Lahore campus.

The agreement, signed between CUI Rector Prof Dr Raheel Qamar and ICTP Director Dr Fernando Quevedo respectively in Trieste, Italy, will result in providing high-quality education in mathematics to Pakistani students which are comparable to world-class centres of excellence on the subject.


This agreement will facilitate research in pure mathematics as well as industrial and applied mathematics in the CUI-Lahore campus.

The ICTP which is an internationally renowned centre of theoretical physics and mathematics was founded in Trieste, Italy by late veteran Pakistani Nobel Laureate Prof Abdus Salam in 1964 and continues to serve the scientific community in the developing world by supporting scientific institutions, scientists and scientific research work by enhancing international collaboration.
