KARACHI:
Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister on Law, Environment and Coastal Development Barrister Murtaza Wahab has advised Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar to hand over Karachi Metropolitan Corporation's (KMC) Karachi Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (KIHD) to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) so it could be transformed into a satellite centre. "It's my dream for the residents of districts Central and East to have cardiac care facilities near to their abodes," he said.

Inaugurating the 12th Chest Pain Unit of the NICVD in the city, Wahab said the NICVD's unit in Lyari was going to become the first satellite centre of the cardiac facility in the megalopolis by next week, adding that it will have facilities, including angiography. He said that these satellite centres will reduce the burden of the cardiac patients on NICVD.

"We will be able to serve people more efficiently, if KIHD is handed over to NICVD," said Wahab. He said that NICVD was the flagship programme of the provincial government and the Pakistan People's Party.
