Two killed, 22 injured in Balochistan accidents

Police have commenced investigation over the accidents

QUETTA: At least two people, including Deputy Director of Civil Defence Nasirabad, died and 22 others sustained injuries in three different road accidents in Balochistan on Monday.

According to Levies sources, an official of Civil Defence Nasirabad Syed Imtiaz Shah along with Muhammad Siddiq and Muhammad Ramzan was travelling in a vehicle when a truck, coming from the opposite direction hit it. The accident took place due to speeding on National Highway near the Dhadar area of Bolan district. Syed Imtiaz Shah died and two others were injured on the spot.

The body and the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. A truck carrying members of a family from Sibi was on the way to Lehri when it overturned on National Highway due to speeding in second such incident.

As a result, 20 people including children and women received injuries. The injured were rushed to Sibi district headquarters hospital for medical aid.

Four of the injured were reported to be in serious condition.

The third incident occurred in Quetta where the victim, Izatullah, was hit to death by a vehicle at Balily Bypass when he was travelling on a motorbike.

JI worker killed in Notal

A vehicle in Jamaat-e-Islami convoy carrying workers to Quetta’s Kashmir/Balochistan March toppled over in Notal, leaving one JI worker dead and 10 injured.

The Jamaat-e-Islami’s convoy was headed by provincial Deputy Secretary Abdul Majeed Badini.

Security forces accompanied by rescue workers reached the spot. The injured were shifted to nearby DHQ Hospital for medical treatment.

“A vehicle in JI’s convoy toppled over due to tyre burst at a turn near Notal Highway,” police said. “The deceased JI worker has been identified as Khuda Buksh Badini.”

District administration has declared emergency in DHQ Jaffarabad after the accident, whereas three critically wounded were moved to Larkana for further treatment.

Police added that majority injured hailed from Dera Allah Yar and Sohbat Pur while the body has been handed over to the family for burial purposes.

Police have commenced investigation over the accident.
