PBC assures JUI-F of legal aid for upcoming march
Vice chairman promises providing support in case govt adopts ‘unconstitutional’ or ‘illegal’ approach
ISLAMABAD:
The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), an apex body of lawyers, has assured the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) of providing free legal aid to its elected leaders and workers during the upcoming Azadi March in case the government adopts any “unconstitutional” or “illegal” approach.
The assurance was given by PBC Vice Chairman Syed Amjad Shah on the request of JUI-F legal mind Kamran Murtaza.
In his request to the PBC vice chairman, Murtaza stated, “The JUI-F has decided to march towards Islamabad in October as it is a part of its democratic struggle against ‘selectors and the selectees’. As such, there are apprehensions of unconstitutional and illegal actions against its leaders and workers. Hence, legal aid in your respective domains is requested irrespective of your political affiliations in case of any unconstitutionality or illegality.”
In his response, the PBC vice chairman assured provision of legal aid in case of any unconstitutionally and illegality on the part of the federal government. Murtaza said the bar would provide free legal aid all over the country, adding that the party was also considering the option of obtaining resignation from their MNAs, MPAs. “The protest will continue till the government’s removal,” he added.
