LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar stated that the government is engaged in public welfare projects, an area in which former rulers failed despite the passage of several years.

He expressed these views during a meeting with Acting Governor Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi who called the CM at his office on Thursday to discuss various matters of mutual interest including strengthening working relationships.

Both agreed to work together for the welfare of the people.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM stated that the time for fooling the people with hollow slogans is now over. He added that the incorrect priorities and policies of the past have caused tremendous damage. Instead of providing relief to the people, pain was inflicted upon them, he said.

He said that the local bodies system will give new meaning to the concept of public service. He maintained that the local bodies system has been redone to devolve power and authority at a grassroots level.
