Ashura passes peacefully in Jhelum
DPO lauds police personnel and district administration
JHELUM:
The district police heaved a sigh of relief after peaceful passing of the Ashura. The processions of matam and majalis ended peacefully with no untoward incident reported from anywhere in the district.
District Police Officer (DPO) Hammad Abid thanked members of peace committee, parliamentarians, traders, media and the organisers of mourning processions and gatherings for a peaceful culmination of events.
He said that all events till Ashura were organised in a peaceful manner despite threats of terrorism.
He also appreciated the police personnel and district administration which performed their duties wholeheartedly.
DPO added that teamwork of all people living in Jhelum proved that they were patriotic and peace-loving.
Meanwhile, the public also expressed satisfaction of security arrangements during Muharram and expressed hoped that DPO would make similar kinds of arrangements in future as well.
