The Sky is Pink’s first trailer release, marks the return of Priyanka Chopra to Bollywood after three years. Directed by Shonali Bose, the film stars Farhan Akhtar, Zaira Wasim and Rohit Saraf.
Produced by RFK and RSVP Movies, the film will be screened at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 13 and released in theatres on October 11.
The trailer takes off with an unknown narrator indicating the film to have a romantic theme with a tragic turning point which is later revealed in the video. She goes on to introduce Chopra and Farhan, the main characters, addressing them as Panda and Moose. The initial interaction between these characters establishes their deep bond as they progress to fall in love and have a daughter.
The trailer shifts its focus on the daughter, Aisha Chaudry, as other characters’ stories emerge to revolve around her. Played by the Dangal star, Zaira, who grows up to develop a terminal illness at the age of 13, which marks the beginning of struggles for the couple. She is also the unknown narrator of the trailer, who then claims herself to be the villain, as her disease becomes the centre of conundrums for her parents.
Whilst showing glimpses of the growing distance between the characters as things become financially unbearable, the trailer concludes into a presumable happy ending.
