QUETTA: The Balochistan Engineers Grand Alliance (BEGA) spokesperson has urged Chief Minister Jam Kamal to take immediate notice of alleged victimisation of its members by the provincial government for taking part in the protest.

In a statement on Sunday, the spokesperson said the alliance strongly condemns government’s action of “harassing” its members.

“The BEGA had called off the protests after assurances of the fulfilment of demands from the government during negotiations with Provincial Agriculture Minister Zamrak Khan Achakzai, Communications and Works Minister Arif Jan Muhammad Hassani and finance and law secretaries,” the spokesperson added.

However, engineers of the mining department have been served show-cause notices, it said, adding that BEGA Vice-Chairman Qazi Abdur Rashid Baloch was also being ‘trapped’ without evidence.
