Earthquake jolts Chitral, adjoining areas
Tremors were felt in Chitral and surrounding areas and the epicentre of the quake was determined to be deep in the Hindu Kush range near the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border.
While there were no casualties, reports suggest some properties did sustain minor damage. Citizens remained cautious in the aftermath of the early morning quake but life had largely returned to normalcy by the afternoon.
In April last year, a 5.6-magnitude earthquake jolted many towns of K-P. Tremors were felt in Chitral, Batkhela, Bunir, Swat, Shangla, Malakand, Dir and Swabi districts.
No loss of life or property was reported after the earthquake, the epicentre of which was at a depth of 200 kilometres in the Hindu Kush mountain area of Afghanistan.
