QUETTA: Like other parts of the country, the citizens in the provincial capital are also lamenting on skyrocketing food and grocery prices.

As per a survey conducted by Century Express, citizens complain of rising prices for all everyday items including wheat flour, ghee, lentils, vegetables, and even the once-cheaper chicken meat.

The district administration has also failed to implement the price controls and organise regulated markets. Price for a kilogram of chicken ranges between Rs280 and Rs300. The prices for vegetables have also unusually increased as peas are being sold for Rs100 per kilogram, ridge gourd Rs70, okra Rs80,  brinjal for Rs60 per kilogram while prices of onions and potatoes are fluctuating every day. Eggs are traded at Rs110 a dozen.

People from various factions of the society are demanding immediate action against profiteering grocery sellers.
