Sindh Health commission to identify issues in infection prevention
2,102 healthcare establishments in Sindh have been sealed to date

The Sindh Health Care Commission (SHCC) held a meeting of Sindh Infection Prevention & Control Task Force on Saturday where expert decided to conduct a study on infection prevention and control.
The meeting was attended by SHCC CEO Dr Minhaj Qidwai, Dr Rehana, Dr Azizullah Dhillo, Dr Ayaz Mustafa, Dr Raza Kazmi and Dr Faiza Bhutto. It was decided in the meeting to devise a research study to identify the issues encountered by the team of SHCC during inspection regarding infection prevention and control and waste management.
The study will begin in Larkana and Karachi and will be initiated after approval.
Dr Qidwai attended the provincial consultative workshop on human rights indicators for the province of Sindh. This workshop was arranged by the Sindh human rights department with technical support of the Ministry of Human Rights and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The workshop was arranged to share a point of views, data and experiences on health, education and social protection. Dr Qidwai shared the healthcare service delivery standards prevailing in Sindh currently and the steps taken by SHCC for the improvement in the quality of healthcare and eradication of quackery in Sindh.
Similarly, Dr Qidwai also attended a seminar on infection prevention and injection safety at Ziauddin Hospital Karachi.
He briefed on the role of SHCC in implementing injection safety practices in healthcare establishments (HCEs).
The Directorate of Clinical Governance and Training held a meeting with the task force to review laboratory standards. The meeting was attended by Dr Minhaj Qidwai, Dr Naila Tariq, Dr Masood Sheikh, Dr Shaheen, Dr Umar Daraz, Dr Amir, Dr Raza Kazmi, Dr Ayaz Mustafa and Dr Faiza. The meeting decided to work on a provincial laboratory policy.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Anti-Quackery has sealed a total of 2,102 HCEs across Sindh province till date while 548 warnings have been issued till date to HCEs for non-compliance.
The Directorate of Complaint has received a total 97 complaints out of which 56 complaints have been disposed of while 35 complaints are under process and six are sub-judice.
The complaint team conducted an inspection of the Holy Family Hospital, Medical and High Dependency Ward of Civil Hospital against complaints received.
Besides, the Directorate of Licensing and Accreditation received 65 new applications for registration in this week. Till date, the total number of applications for registration is 9,071.
Certificates were issued to 660 HCEs in this week bringing the total number of registration certificates issued to 7760.
The team also conducted an inspection of Darul Sehat Hospital this week.
